National Education Policy Renewed in 34 Years by the Cabinet A New Education Policy has been approved by the cabinet since last 34 years. The cabinet has made drastic changes as per the New Education policy today. The amendment in the already existing policy of 1968 and 1986 has come to light after a recent announcement by Union Minister Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal.

As per the new policy, there have been made couple of changes in the education sector across the country, the following are mentioned below

1. Mother Tongue/ Regional Language to be medium of instruction till Class 5th, and furthermore if required till 8th Class.

2. Sanskrit Language will now be available at all School Levels.

3. Board Examination will focus on application of knowledge rather than rhetorical Theory.

4. The 10+2 Education Structure will be altered to 5+3+3+4.

5. At the college level, there will be no such division like it is seen in the current section. 
There will not be division like Arts or Science field. One will be able to pursue Science subjects with arts and so on. For eg. If one prefers fashion will be allowed with Physics etc.

Apart from these highlights, the new education policy also announced that all the educational institutes will foray under one regulator except for medical and legal studies.

The HRD Ministry has also been renamed as Education Ministry. 

The importance will be given to more vocational subjects, coding can be taken up for learning right from class 6. 

The proposal has also been made to conduct a common entrance exams at higher education level.
