Air India Job Crisis : Pilots Say They Were Not Consulted Before the Layoffs

Air India's job crisis situation doesn't seem to be ending ever. In a recent development, it is reported that the pilots of the Air Line were not consulted before asking people to take leave without pay. The Air Lines Pilot Union ICPA mentioned the same to the Airlines management committee. The letter mentions of how the decision was taken without consulting the pilots to send people on leave without pay.

The letter also mentioned that in a recent press conference led by the Aviation Minister Mr. Hardeep Puri he was seen mentioning that how the management is in touch with the pilots however, the same never happened post or before the decision was announced.

ICPA also mentioned that the step taken is a harsh one as the total flying allowances received by them makes up for 70% of their wages which apparently is not cleared since April 2020. There have been delay in the salary since a long time now. Taking a harsh step like this after making the employees go through so many tough times doesn't seem very sensitive step taken by the national carrier.

Prior to this, Air India also declined training to 180 selected trainees due to Covid-19 pandemic. Sighting the reason that they do not have enough resources at the moment to conduct the training. And now, permanent leave without pay is affecting the lives of Air India staff.

The Airline is up for grabs to be taken by a private owner since the government announced it for sale. However, the employees grievance does not seem to be ending anytime soon it seems
